Help service the nest boxes around Burnaby Lake that provide homes for wood ducks, swallows, chickadees, and flying squirrels. Collect valuable data that helps us to understand how these species are doing in our park as well as making any adjustments to increase nesting success.
It is important that you dress for the weather, and waterproof footwear is highly recommended. We’ll provide the gloves, tools and snacks.
IMPORTANT: Please keep an eye on our website or social media for any change of plans due to the weather. The forecast is for a similar winter so we may need to adjust due to conditions. You can also sign up with our volunteer coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org and get put on the list to receive any updates by email.
Did you know?
Records show the first nest boxes put up by the BLPA’s predecessor, the Burnaby Outdoor Education Association, in 1974. Over the years, founding member Joe Sadowski has continually refined and improved the design of them so they suit our We(s)t Coast weather.
