EcoBlitz 2018-1

The first EcoBlitz was held in 2014 and was a one day event across the Metro Vancouver  Regional Parks System and gave an opportunity for the community to lend a helping hand to nature and show a little extra love to our Regional Park.

This year, the BLPA is pleased to host two events this year.

On October 14, meet us to start the work of planting native species in the Lenson field, and clean up any wayward weeds if needed. Remember to dress for the weather, sturdy and water proof shoes or boots, rain pants, jackets and a hat if needed. We’ll provide the gloves, tools and snacks! Ages 8+

To assist in planning for tools and refreshments (pizza!) please RSVP at this link by Thursday, October 14th  to to let us know you’re coming – Thank you!

Please keep an eye on our social media closer to the event so you can be kept up to date with any changes due to weather or any additional information.

Getting Ready for Spring at Burnaby Lake

Join us for another stewardship work party with the Burnaby Lake Park Association.

We are focusing on the east end of Burnaby Lake around the Avalon Parking Lot and Cariboo Dam. Please come and help us get the area ready for the change to the warmer season ahead with bird nesting activity and the new spring growth.

We have 2 tasks:

  1. Servicing the nest boxes that are in the area and
  2. Planting native plants to finish a job we started in the fall.

Please come dressed for the weather and be prepared to work off trails. Wear warm, dry clothing and sturdy, waterproof footwear. We provide all the tools and equipment you’ll need and will have refreshments on hand.
