EcoBlitz – Piper Spit

BLPA-Annual Ecoblitz

Due to the special weather statement from Environment Canada, we are moving the meeting location for this date to the Burnaby Lake Nature House located on Piper Avenue.

We will be planting native species along Piper Spit where we have previously removed blackberry and oother inasive species.

Wear sturdy and waterproof footwear as we’ll be stepping off the trails, and dress appropriate for the weather conditions of the day. Gloves, tools, and snacks will all be provided, just bring your enthusiasm and industrious attitude!

By volunteering at this event, you will receive invitations to two special Metro Vancouver appreciation events:
• Sunday, October 23rd – EcoBlitz Wrap Up BBQ*
• Saturday, November 5th – Fall Parksfest*
A day of learning via workshops and speakers, and making connections with others who care about and support regional parks.
(*Not held at Burnaby Lake Regional Park)

This is a great opportunity for your local community group to come out and contribute to your local environment with others who care about the park. Scouts, Guides, Church, work groups – get in touch with us at info@BurnabyLakePark.ca.

PLEASE RSVP if you can make it, it will help us with our planning for equipment and snacks.

Ecoblitz 2016 at NARS

BLPA-Annual Ecoblitz

Eco stewardship activities are happening across several Metro Vancouver Regional Parks during the week.

We are proceeding with the next step of a restoration and enhancement plan in an area called Lenson House. We were successful in receiving a $4000 grant from the George Ross Legacy  to purchase plants and trees and have the opportunity to re-plant in areas where we have spent previous work parties over the years removing invasive species.
