Celebrate Science Literacy Week at Burnaby Public Library!

From September 16 – 22, Burnaby Public Library will feature a variety of free and fun events promoting science literacy for all ages. Programs, workshops, and movie showings will reflect this year’s national Science Literacy Week theme: Oceans! 2019 is also the International Year of the Salmon!

Find out more about Science Literacy Week from the official nationwide website, which is powered by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

In support of Science Literacy Week come and listen to Paul Cipywnyk speak about Burnaby’s watersheds, their historical development and today’s salmon bearing streams. Paul will also discuss the work volunteer streamkeepers do on creeks and streams around the city, with a focus on Byrne Creek.

Paul has been a member of Byrne Creek Streamkeepers for 20 years. He has served on the City of Burnaby Environment Committee and the Burnaby Board of Trade Environmental Sustainability Committee.
